Great honeymoon !!!
Copenhagen
We stayed in Aventura Mexicana when we were on our honeymoon i Playa del Carmen i january/february and we liked it very much.
The hotel is very clean and quiet, but still close to everything in Playa: the beach, restaurants, fifth avenue and stores of all kind. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they let us stay in our room till the middle of the day, on our check out day, allthough their check-out time is at 11, which was great and very helpful.
We stayed in the adult area of the hotel, which is close to a big pool and the restaurant/bar. Every morning we got a new sculpture made of towels, which the nice cleaning ladies made. They even made small sculptures with the toiletpaper, which was really funny and creative. The room is equiped with a frigirator and aircondition, which was nice in the very hot and humid days. We found the bed perfect, eventhough people here remarked that the beds were a bit hard, we think they were just perfect.
Our only remark goes to the breakfast, because the free continental breakfast contains the same thing every day: coffe/tea, juice, croissant, toast and the same kind of marmelade. It was nice the first few days, but we stayed there for 13 days, and we would have liked a bit variation in the pastry, or if they added youghurt a day or two. There was a possibility to upgrade the breakfast for $5, but if you don't eat much in the mornings, its a bit much for a bowl of youghurt or a piece of fruit. But the food it self was very tasty and nice- no doubt.
When staying at the Aventura Mexicana, you realy get what you expect, a nice clean and quiet hotel for a very favorable price, with friendly staff and close to the beach and the 5 Avenue. Tips: make sure to visit the "Crepe Factory" just around the corner, which has great crepes and the best Jugos (friut juice/smoothie) in town! We bought one every morning and took it to the beach. Besides of being incredibly tasty and healthy, the Jugo stayed cool until the middle of the day and was very refreshing. Uhmmm I could drink one of those right now. Another tip is not to go to the beaches nearer the "center", they are crowded and a bit smelly. Personally we found the best beaches a bit north of the Kool beachclub, a bit near the Shangri-la Hotel and eve further away.
All in all, a great hotel, a great town and a great country! We would recommend the hotel and Playa any time, and are planning on visiting Mexico again!

Loved this hotel!
Montreal
We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and loved it! We were with our 9 months old baby and unlike most of the reviews we read here, I would definitely recommend this hotel for families with young children. The location: Very well located and still, very quiet! It's between the 5th and the 10th avenue, on the 24th street. The beach is 2 blocks away (5 minutes). You're within walking distance of everything. The room: We had an Adult Junior Suite. We had a mini-fridge and a microwave in our room which made it easy for baby's meals. We also had a sitting area with a futon. The room was spotless!
The breakfast: We had the continental breakfast included at Mayan Bistro (orange juice, croissants and toasts with jam, tea/coffee) which was enough for us. The pools: There are 2 small pools, always nice to jump in after a day at the beach. One of the pools has a shallow area for kids. Clean and refreshing water. The gardens are wonderfully maintained. There are several sundecks and there was always plenty of chairs available. You can get a discount for Kool Beach Club at the reception but we only went once because it was too crowded and we prefer quieter areas of the beach.
Other good things: there's a computer in the lobby, with free internet access 24/24. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My husband needed to see a doctor and they called one for us. We booked online with no problem whatsoever. Before booking, we contacted the hotel by email for questions and always got same day replies. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will go back for sure the next time we go back to Playa!

Another terrific visit!
New York
We stayed with you recently, early March, this year, and our visit (our second) was again terrific. We were waited on, very pleasantly by Aurelio, Yolibeth and Angel. The front desk was more than graciious and helpful (even when we managed to leave a bag on a recent bus tour, summoning the driver back!).
The food (we ate at the Aventura each night) was, again, and have been raving about it our friends. Is it at all possible to collect the recipe for your Pollo Mole and Chicken Enchilada with the red pepper sauce, and lettuce sour cream on top????? I hope so.
Again, thank you for the amazing hospitality!

"Great service, good location!"
The employees were very helpful and pleasant. They were thorough when we checked in and tried to assist us with any request we had. The rooms were clean and the location was great, just a side street off of 5th Avenue so it wasn’t noisy at all. Restaurant staff were very accomodating and friendly as were the bartenders. Do a bit of homework prior to your trip and ask people who’ve been there before or tourists on the street on what not to miss and what you shouldn’t bother with. The beaches (off the beaten path) were amazing, Tulum was breathtaking!

"Loved it!"
My 16 year old daughter and I had never been to Mexico, and wanted something smaller and more charming that what we'd heard about Cancun. We found Aventura Mexicana on the net.
It was meticulously clean, quiet, and overall just lovely. We were steps away from the main street, and a few blocks to the most gorgeous beach ever. Our breakfasts are the only meals we ate at the hotel, and they were fantastic. We were so happy that we didn't pick one of the hotels on the main street. I would go back to this hotel in a minute, and have reccommended it to friends.
Truly a gem.

"Our Favorite Getaway!"
Deciding to return to Playa Del Carmen for a third year in a row was not a difficult decision. The price of the trip was so good we planned on staying for 2 more nights. Our hotel of choice is the Hotel Aventura Mexicana. About 1 month before departure I emailed the manager and learned that the hotel had been sold. The manager reassured me the Hotel was still as friendly as ever and he was right. The Aventura Mexicana in now one with the adjoining hotel and nothing has changed. The rooms, grounds, pool, jacuzzis and all areas of the hotel are always spotless and the entire staff is still there and as friendly as ever. I love this place because unlike the mega-resorts a traveler can get to know people who live and work in Playa. The location makes it a perfect place for anyone venturing out, in or around the area and the hotel is always a great place to come back to for rest and relaxation after a long day of exploring. The food is great, drinks are excellent and service is way over the top. I only hope the new owners continue to recognize the great leadership of the general manager and allow him to keep this little piece of paradise just as it is - a charming and relaxing place that calls me back year after year.

"Awesome stay at Aventura Mexicana!"
I have stayed at several small hotels in Playa del Carmen and thought I would try out Aventura Mexicana. I had toured the hotel last Nov 2006, the manager Mario showed me around the grounds and a few rooms. When it was time to book my stay (May 4-11 2007) Aventura Mexicana it is! From the street you would never know how lovely this place is. We had a king room, with fridge, bottled water, and a coffee maker. Extremely clean room and grounds. Wonderful pool, resturant on site with a bar that has a 2 for 1 happy hour everyday from 4-7pm! there are 2 pools, one for the adult side and one for the family side. Beautiful! Oh and a continental breakfast is included with the stay. Everything about this place was outstanding! I would not hesitate recommending Aventura Mexicana to anyone planning a trip to Playa!

"Aaahhhhh!!! Peace, Quiet, and OLIVIA and ERIC
We had a charming stay the last week of February. The hotel is 1/2 block from 5th Avenue but very quiet. The grounds are immaculate. The staff was
friendly. They have a computer in the lobby to use internet to E-mail home. Our fellow tourists were very quiet; we had the pools to ourselves most of
the time.
I really MUST tell you about OLIVIA and ERIC at the Mayan Bistro Restaurant attached to the hotel. ERIC is the most friendly waiter in all of
Playa. He was attentive to all our needs and made us feel very special. The happy hour margaritas from 4-7 included fruit flavors, tamarindo, and just
about any other flavor you could imagine. OLIVIA is the resident hotel cat who graciously allowed me to share my spaghetti with shrimp with her. She
even condescended to share my sunbathing time with me in the afternoons. I was most pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at the Mayan Bistro;
the only other place we found that was almost as good was the Italian restaurant on the corner of 5th Avenue and calle 24, just a few steps from the
hotel. They had a marvelous shrimp pizza and Caesar salad for 2 mixed at tableside. The hotel grounds are well-landscaped with jungle foliage and it was
a joy to eat dinner by candlelight and look up at the clear sky and know we were in paradise.

Aventura Mexicana - Great place for the price!
I stayed at the Aventura over New Years and the first week of January. I enjoyed my stay and felt that the hotel was great for the price we paid.
The staff - They are exceptional! Whenever we had a request or needed assistance we were able to get assistance and they always followed up and wanted to
make sure that our need or request was satisfied. I was very pleased with all of the staff members that I interacted with.

The Aventura Mexicana is truly a gem!!!
My husband and I loved it. In no particular order the top 5 things about this hotel are: 1. Location. Perfect location, just off Fifth Avenue. Three minutes walk from the beach. And although 5th Avenue is loud and busy, the hotel is quiet and peaceful. A wonderful place to come "home" to after a fun-filled day. 2. Cleanliness. The rooms were spotless with crisp, clean sheets on the bed and shiny tiles in the shower. 3. The staff. Everyone was polite and friendly, without being "on our case and in our face" all the time, which is perfect, as far as my husband and I are concerned. We want good service but we also want our privacy. And the staff gave us just that. Great people! 4. The breakfast. One word: Yummy!!! 5. The romantic atmosphere. Say no more.

Aventura Mexicana truly is a little oasis in Playa del Carmen!
My husband and I just returned from Playa del Carmen and we can't wait to return! I would advise anyone who is going to Playa del Carmen to stay in Aventura Mexicana. The layout of the hotel is very beautiful and relaxing. Most of the time we felt like we were the only ones in the hotel; that's how quiet it was! We pretty much had the pool to ourselves the whole time we were there.
We stayed in Aventura Mexicana for eight days and we never felt cramped in the room. We had plenty of room for our luggage and our personal things. I really liked having air conditioning and a fan in the room. The small refrigerator also came in handy for storing drinks.
If you want to party all you have to do is walk a few blocks down to 5th Ave. where you'll find a lot of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The beach is not too far away either and the hotel will even give you beach towels to take to the beach! Everything is within walking distance from this hotel. Aventura Mexicana truly is a little oasis in Playa del Carmen.

Best Kept Secret in Playa Del Carmen
To any and all who might read this review, I wish you a great journey. This year was my second experience through Expedia.com to travel to Playa Del Carmen and to stay at this hotel - the "Aventura Mexicana". I booked through Expedia specifically because I wanted to return to this hotel. My friend and I had a great time last year in June of 2005 and an even better time this year. The hotel is very well located, spotlessly clean, comfortable, with many amenities I have experienced in more highly rated hotels in Europe. The staff is extremely professional yet very friendly and helpful. For those looking for the perfect base in the Riviera Maya from which to visit the wondrous and beautiful sights there, I highly recommend the Aventura Mexicana. My plans are already in place to return next year.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Take advantage of the great happy hour at the hotel bar every day from 4-7 p.m. The restaraunt as well, is a great place to eat if you’ve worn yourself out and don’t feel like venturing out for the evening. The food is better than many of the surrounding venues.
